GoalTesters is the trademark of GoalTesters International Limited which was founded in July 2007 to provide independent on-site testing of soccer, rugby, gaelic and hockey goalposts throughout the UK and Ireland. In addition, GoalTesters can provide expert witness evidence in the event of a legal dispute.

Using a network of regional inspectors and a standardised set of mobile equipment and standardised operating procedures, GoalTesters offers a unique service to local authorities, private sports and leisure clubs and to individuals who own goalposts. GoalTesters can certify the safety of goalposts either when new or after a defined or regular period of use. The inspection and certification of goalposts takes place on sports fields, public playing fields, sports centres, schools ... in fact anywhere that a goalpost is located.

Within the UK, over 250 people are injured every year by goalposts which may not be safe and whichh collapse or overturn when in use. Injuries can range from minor cuts and abrasions to head injuries and on occasion even fatalities. The most recent reported fatality occurred in Ireland in 2006. 

GoalTesters carried out testing against European Standards EN748 and EN749, British Standard BS8462 and Irish Standard IS356 and against the associated Codes of Practice BS8461 and IS357. The process involves visual inspection of the goalpost, measurement of critical dimensions and the testing of the goalpost for crossbar strength and goalpost stability (resistance to overturning) as well as net fixing strength (if applicable). Goals which meet the relevant safety requirements receive a safety certificate (similar to an MoT certificate for a motor vehicle) which can be used in partial defence of any claim for personal injury arising from the goalpost failing in use.

Prices start at £350 (€500) per man-day or £75 per goalpost.
