Alan Ross is a Chartered Textile Technologist (C.Text) and Association of the Textile Institute (ATI). He is also a Chartered Colourist (C.Col) and Associate of the Society of Dyers and Colourists (ASDC). With a Honours degree in Textile Science & Textile Technology, Alan has 20 years experience of testing and quality control and has been a registered expert witness since 1998, is registered and checked by Legal Hub, and the UK Directory of Expert Witnesses. In addition he appears as an expert in various other printed and online expert directories.
Alan undertakes many different cases each year, both civil and criminal, and has over 20 years experience of producing expert's reports and of giving evidence in person in Magistrate, County and Crown Courts. Alan is also experienced in acting as a Single Joint Expert as well as continuing to accept instruction as Sole Expert where applicable. Alan has also given evidence in matters of small claims and customers & excise tribunals as well as appearing as an expert in overseas Courts.
Alan is vastly experienced in many facets of the textile industry, from fibre and yarn analysis to apparel and home furnishings (carpets, curtains, upholstered furniture). Alan is able to deal with issues of quality and quantity, performance, safety, and personal injury.
In addition to textiles work, Alan is experienced in the testing of many other consumer products including cigarette lighters, safety matches, flexible plastic film products (carrier bags, etc), hot water bottles and similar thermal products, candles and oil burners, insulated flasks and bags, sports equipment including football goalposts, etc.
Work can be undertaken either for the litigants themselves, or through their legal representatives or insurance companies. Legal Aid work is accepted but only where costs are agreed in advance and not subject to assessment.
All work is charged by the hour excluding travel, expenses and other disbursements. Full details of charging rates are available on request. Pro-forma payment of a deposit against the final invoice may be requested prior to commencement of some work.
